Lollipops won't work, politicians should introspect: Munish | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 12: Editor, Early Times, Munish Gupta, on Saturday said that times are changing fast and people of Jammu need to strive for excellence. Carrying forward his mass contact programme in Jawahar Nagar, Munish said, "Our country is witnessing rapid development and we can't just sit back and relax. We have to join the development process by remaining proactive and by demanding what we deserve." Munish, who would be contesting the forthcoming Assembly elections as an independent candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency said, "Jammu has been awaiting development since 1947 as the leaders who have represented us during the past seven decades just gave us lollipops. It is unfortunate that no serious effort was put to turn Jammu into a vibrant region. Genuine demands of people were ignored and halfhearted attempts were made to provide the masses with the basic amenities." Munish said the areas which he has visited during the past five months comprised of people from different walks of life. "People of many areas have lost faith in the system as they believe that system will never change. No one has tried to listen to the woes of the people during all these years. The so called development has been confined to certain pockets only," he added. Munish said, "Tall promises and mere lip service won't help anyone's cause, politicians should introspect and see have they done enough for the people?" |
