Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 2: Incessant thrust from Union government to develop Highway Village near Logate Morh along Nation Highway in Kathua district, the district administration has utterly failed to transfer piece of land to project after lapse of 10 month from the foundation stone was laid. Sources informed Early Times that in January of this year, the then Union Minister, Dr Jitender Singh laid foundation stone of 20 Crores project namely Highway Village near Kalibari and announced the project would be completed in phase manner and its first phase would be completed in 18 months from the date of foundation stone laid. "In this regard, a piece of land measuring about 9 acres was identified at prime location near Logate Morh and nearly 1 Km away from Kalibari chowk but ironically, the local administration has failed so far to transfer piece of land to project, resulting, the project still not start execution", said sources while wishing anonymity. Sources further said that addressing a gathering after the ceremony, the then Union minister Dr Jitender Singh said that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 183 sites to set up wayside amenities along national highways and one site has been selected in district Kathua but due to snail pace of district administration to transfer a piece of land to the proposed project, the project is still confine to papers only. It is pertinent to mention here that under the proposed project the facilities including a separate parking for cars, buses and trucks, restaurant/food court, low cost dhaba, telephone booth/ATM as well as a village haat, motels, dormitories, open-air rest areas, toilet facilities, baby-care rooms, children's play area and fuel station. "Facilities like car washing, puncture repair, pollution check, parking and Internet will be available at lowest rates from the market rates", sources informed. |
