Sources further said that addressing a gathering after the ceremony, the then Union minister Dr Jitender Singh said that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has identified 183 sites to set up wayside amenities along national highways and one site has been selected in district Kathua but due to snail pace of district administration to transfer a piece of land to the proposed project, the project is still confine to papers only.
It is pertinent to mention here that under the proposed project the facilities including a separate parking for cars, buses and trucks, restaurant/food court, low cost dhaba, telephone booth/ATM as well as a village haat, motels, dormitories, open-air rest areas, toilet facilities, baby-care rooms, children's play area and fuel station.
