JAMMU, Nov 4: Communist Party of India (CPI) J&K and National Conference (NC) held a joint meeting at Sher-I-Kashmir Bhawan, Jammu in which the thread bear discussions was held on present political situation of Jammu and Kashmir state after 5th August.
Both the parties expressed its anguish over the deteriorating situation of the state after abrogation of article 370 and 35-A and the bifurcation of state on regional and communal lines.
The detention of political leadership of the state, especially three ex chief ministers and the tallest leader of the state like Dr Faroq Abdullah who is also the present sitting member of the parliament under Public Safety Act (PSA) is very worrisome and called it undemocratic, unconstitutional and unlawful act of the present ruling regime.
Both the parties are of the opinion that by taking the dictatorial steps, detaining political leadership, arresting innocent youngsters, keeping them behind the bars, detaining them in and outside of the state prisons, enforcing curfew and preventing the common people from raising their voice against the undemocratic steps of the ruling regime which have alienated the people of the state and shrunk the space of the mainstream parties while strengthen the separatism as well as militancy in the state.
Both the parties demanded that all the detained leaders, political workers and innocent youth should be released immediately; secondly the status prevailing prior to 5th August 2019 should be restored for bringing back of normalcy in the state.
CPI and NC leaders expressed their concern that the ruling regime of BJP at the centre is spreading lies throughout the country about the real situation of J&K and misleading the common masses to strengthen their own vote bank.
It is unfortunate that keeping aside the constitution of India for their vested interest, they are bent upon to destroy the communal harmony of the country and polarizing the situation for their vote bank politics.
NC leaders stressed that at this hour of crises in the state it is the duty of the CPI and other left and democratic forces that they should take the lead in exposing the nefarious designs of the ruling RSS led BJP government and ensure the immediate release of our political leaders as well as the innocent detainees.
