Despite Mehbooba's directions PDP Rajya Sabha members are not going to resign

Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 4: Almost three months have been passed when former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had directed two Rajya Sabha members namely Fayaz Ahmed Mir and Nazir Ahmed Laway of her party to resign as member of the Upper House but the duo has reportedly refused to follow dictate of party chief.
It was all due to adamant stand taken by two Rajya Sabha members that party leadership had availed the opportunity and expelled one of them from the party.
Rajya Sabha member from South Kashmir Nazir Ahmed Laway was expelled from the PDP last week after he met with delegation of European Union (EU) parliamentarians.
Credible sources said Mehbooba Mufti through some of her close confidants had reminded both the Rajya Sabha members to accept her directions but they had reportedly asked the close confidants to wait for some time.
Credible sources further revealed that both the Rajya Sabha members were in touch with dissidents with party as they have realized that PDP led by Mehbooba Mufti was going to be further split in the days to come.
After passing of bills to abolish Article 370 and re-organization of J&K, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on August 7 had asked the two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Parliament to resign from the Rajya Sabha, both the members have yet to resign.
Instead of following directions of party chief, PDP Rajya Sabha members are buying time to remain as members of the Upper House of the Parliament.
Credible sources said that both the Rajya Sabha members were not ready follow directions of Mehbooba Mufti because they wanted to continue their remaining tenure.
As reported earlier, PDP members were physically removed from the Rajya Sabha on August 5 after they tore a copy of the Constitution, in an apparent display of anger against the government deciding to scrap Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
