Cong to launch mass protests for restoration of J&K's statehood: Malhotra

JAMMU, Nov 4: A meeting of District Congress Committee Jammu Urban was held here today at Pradesh Congress Committee Headquarters Shahidi Chowk.
The meeting was presided over by Vikram Malhotra -District President and attended by DCC Office bearers, Block & Ward Presidents and Councilors.
Vikram Malhotra while addressing the meeting said that the party is gearing up to launch mass protests and agitations to force the central government to restore the statehood of the Dogra State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to the DCC leaders, Block Presidents and Booth level delegates he said that the state of Jammu and Kashmir has been reduced to the level of administration unit and the glory of the state has been snatched and ruined at hands of BJP.
He added the even after formal transition of J&K from state to UT on the 31st October the issue of domicile safeguard and job safety and security has been left unaddressed. The future of lakhs of unemployed youth is in jeopardy.
He said that present dispensation is turning a blind eye towards the apprehension and concerns of people of the state especially Jammu region. Expressing solidarity with the lawyers, he said that ever as the strike of the lawyers has entered 6th day there has been no effort on the part of the government to resolve the stalemate, similarly the striking PDD employees have taken to streets for the post several weeks but their demands and concerns seem to fall on deaf ears.
He urged upon the party workers to unite and protest against the anti people decisions of this government and become the voice of the people of Jammu. The meeting was also addressed by B B Gupta, Dr Rama Kant Khajuria, Krishan Lal, Madan Lal Malagar, Jyoti Vaid, Veena Sharma, Gourav Chopra, Ritu Choudhary, Ch Dwarka, Deepak Kumar, Amrit Bali and others.
