SAMBA, Nov 4: Senior Superintendent of Police, Shakti Pathak today flagged off a batch of 137 JKAS Probationers on a trekking expedition to Mansar. The event involved trekking upto the medieval forts of Samba including, Dhergarh, Mahoregarh and Bhupnergarh situated stop Shiwalik hills. The SSP exhorted upon the officers to pursue adventure activities wherever they are posted. The treks culminated at Mansar lake where the participants were trained in camping and tent pitching by Group Captain Rtd. Kamal Singh Obreoi, who is recipient of Tenzing Norgey award for adventure. Later, the officers also visited Mansar Deer Park followed by a screening of a short film on adventure sports. The 2-day adventure camp has been organised by Directorate of Tourism, Jammu in collaboration with J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration and Rural Development IMPARD. The event includes trekking, camping, heritage walk and team building exercises. To minimise impact on Mansar lake only environment friendly leaf plates and cups were used for serving food to the trekkers. Nagendra Singh Jamwal, CEO, SMDA, Ambika Bali AD Tourism, Katra, Sahil Bhagotra and Amarpal Singh, Senior Instructors of Adventure Wing were also present on the occasion. |
