Back to Village phase 2 begins in J&K | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 25: The six-day-long"Back to Village" phase second began on Monday in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir amidst allegation by Panches and Sarpanches that promises made during the first phase were not till yet implemented on the ground. However, the administration claimed that development works identified during the first phase of the program are in the pipeline. Hundreds of employees besides District Development Commissioners (DDC) of all districts in the Kashmir valley and secretaries of different departments will visit different villages and other far flung and remote areas to hear the grievances of the local population. The officers during their stay in these villages for two days and one night will also approve sanction for some local work. The first phase of back to village was held when the state was under President rule before August 5. However, the Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (PC) and other organizations and individual panchs and sarpanchs besides Block Development Commission (BDC) commissioners alleged that works identified and promises made during the first phase of back to villages were not implemented on the ground. There is absolutely no change in the situation on the ground and people are still facing shortage of electricity, bad roads, water shortage, health facilities and lack of other basic infrastructure. |
