Anantnag, Nov 27: A day after militants attacked 'Back to Village' Program in South Kashmir's Anantnag and killed an agriculture officer and elected Sarpanch, officers and residents of 99 halqas of Anantnag district on Wednesday backed 'Back to village' program by attending these programs with much enthusiasm. Back to village program, which was conducted in five blocks of Anantnag district, were attended by large number of people and the visiting officers do preferred to attend duties despite the fact that Hakura Anantnag Attack has terrorized them. The officers sent out a strong message to anti-social elements and conveyed them that it was peace and development that Kashmir needs. ""Back to village program continued in the district. A good number of people attended these programs," DC Anantnag told Early Times while hailing the courage of officers. Back to Village' program was held in 99 Halqas of five Rural Development Department blocks," Assistant Commissioner Development Mohd Aslam informed ET Meanwhile, slain agriculture Officer and Sarpanch, who were killed yesterday by militants in Hakura Village of South Kashmir's Anantnag district, were laid to rest on Wednesday. Hundreds of people assembled in Kadipora locality of Anantnag today and attended the funeral of slain Agriculture officer Zahoor Ahmad. Amid sobs and tears the officer was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard in Kadipora. Slain agriculture officer has left behind wife and two children. He was sole bread earner for his family Slain sarpanch was also laid to rest in Hakura Village o Anantnag. Hundreds of People attended the last rites and attended his funeral. Slain sarpanch Syed Rafi Ahmad Shah is survived by his two wives and five children. Anantnag district administration also conveyed a condolence meeting and paid tributes to slain Agriculture Officer Zahoor Ahmad. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Khalid Jahangir chaired the meeting and asked officers to not succumb and continue its efforts for resolving issues of public. To ensure the safety and security of the people and visiting officer, Anantnag police in coordination with other security agencies had made enough security arrangements as CRPF troopers were spotted near the 'Back to Village' Program venues. |
