Maharashtra - Ultimately 'Kattapa' prevailed over 'Bahubali' | | | Mahadeep Singh Jamwal
The script for Bahubali - 3 in this write up is derived from the political play recently witnessed in Maharashtra. The fractured mandate set the stage for a play that concluded with the shameful exit of the BJP from main character of power play because of the hammer of the Apex Court, when it curtailed the period of 'Floor Test' for Fadnavis Government and blocking all channels of horse trading. The BJP Fadnavis Government feeling its defeat on the floor of the house resigned as face save but it left indelible prints on the face of BJP and fully exposed that trickeries not always work. The blockbuster movie "Bahubali", take us to the point where Kattappa as a loyal army chief stabbed Bahubali emperor of Mahishmati kingdom but in Maharashtra, the characters of Bahubali - 3, are 'Amit Shah' from BJP and 'Sharad Pawar' from NCP, both deep embedded players of politics, both are regarded as masters of forming governments by hook or crook where 'Shah' is considered as 'Bahubali of the formations of BJP governments but here in Maharashtra, Mr. Pawar appeared as 'Katappa' and stabbed the lofty dreams of the 'Bahubali' of the BJP. Sharad Pawar in the role as Kattapa delivered sorrow and dents on the so created invincible image of duo, Mr. Modi and Mr. Shah, assuming the status of Bahubali on musical chairs. Ultimately the new dispensation that is going to assume the crown of power is also not seen as providing too much to the common man but musical chairs will definitely satiate them. There is another message handed down that voters cannot be carried away on the strength of fake commitments, false promises, created silhouettes of development and uplift of common man, 24X7X365 propaganda through biased media and much shouting of its spokesperson in debates, otherwise the Fadnavis government would have its come back with majority. The all time slogan of Modi je to make India Congress free, a monarchial approach than a reflection of a leader of a democratic country has also received set back in Maharashtra. The big question that how to control government, how to set up checks and balances, how to save the democracy from a majority ruler that behaves like monarchs have emerged from the un-happy, un-democratic role of present dispensation displayed in formation of undemocratic and hotchpotch government in Maharashtra. If one tried to vest power on whoever was the best and the wisest, as Plato wanted, there was the danger that this could turn out to be a tyrant. At its extreme, the popular vote could be self-destructive. The happenings that came as surprise to common man on 23rd of November 2019 as tea news was reacted by right thinking people as 'Midnight murder of Democracy' sponsored by the strategists in the BJP. The party took formation of Government in Maharashtra as 'Political War' and shattered all norms of Democracy and acted as Monarch in Autocracy, influencing the Constitutional Authorities (helpless creatures in present dispensation) and before the dawn of the day, it stalled its Chief Minister with Ajit Pawar from NCP as Dy. CM facing many investigations including two criminal investigations, the first case by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) in connection with an alleged ?25,000-crore scam in Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB). In another scam, pegged at around ?70,000 crore, relates to alleged corruption and irregularities and he was under scanner (Source search Engine) in this case. "You put the small thief in prison, but the big thief lives in a palace"- Graham Greene and BJP led government apply this formulae to establish its power house. With these developments, in the notoriety book of BJP to form its government by hook and crook in states, where it stand rejected by the voters, got a new page of shameful act of power lust. The attitude of BJP to dislodge or to form governments unconstitutionally, we have witnessed in the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa and Maharashtra. In earlier two cases the Court has remarked that absolute power can spoil anybody's mind and even the President can be wrong. There is no king or absolutism. Howsoever high you are, the law is above you. These cases were architected by the Governors of the states. In order to have views of aspiring candidates appearing in Bihar Public Service Commission entrance examination, a question was framed as: "Critically examine the role of Governor in state politics in India. Is he a mere puppet?", but the question set a storm so much so that the person who set the question paper has been barred from setting future tests by the JDU-BJP government in Bihar thus proving that Governors are political agents of central governments to rule indirectly. In the states where fake promises, exploitation of people's sentiments do not work to muster votes in favor of BJP, it resorts to horse-trading and miss-use of investigating agencies to fabricate the cases to downgrade its opponents. Here lines of Henrik Ibsen comes to my mind - "I don't imagine you will dispute the fact that at present the stupid people are in an absolutely overwhelming majority all the world over." We need not to go deep into the provisions of the Constitution, whether violated in recent developments of forming Government in haste and in dark hours, as the the Apex Court has handed down its point on the issue. But the BJP is under scathing attack and stand exposed for its hidden agenda of power lust. This has proved that it carry no respect for Democracy and is pseudo in projecting it as savior of democratic values. At the same time we find that at the occasion when uncertainty prevail over formation of government because of lack of majority to any party, and the market of horse trading set into motion, the parties because of fear of changing the loyalties of their elected members, humming them pack them into confinements and under strict vigil, put them like herds of cattle into hotels/resorts snatching all their communication tools. Still many turn their coats on lucrative offerings of ministerial berths and exchange of heavy amount. This speaks of the moral of these representatives that is totally corrupt and self centric. The voters that have mandated such representatives are required to socially boycott such fraternity; they are not leaders but black sheep in the society and deserve to be rooted from the society. |
