KU adamant not to extend last date for applications' submission, despite internet blackout | Recruitment of 7 Assistant Registrars | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 17: The administration of University of Kashmir has unambiguously refused to extend the deadline for the submission of applications for seven advertised posts of Assistant Registrar, despite requests for extensions by dozens of eligible candidates from valley citing internet shutdown and tumultuous situations prevailing there. Early Times had in its edition of December, 2 had carried a news story on the same issue, in which the reservations of eligible candidates were published, who had smelled rat in the entire recruitment process. The University of Kashmir has advertised seven posts of Assistant Registrar /Assistant Controller of Examination in pay level 10 (Rs. 56100-177500) on October 25 and last date for submission of application forms online and offline was November 25, which was later extended to November 30. The eligible candidates informed Early Times that they had submitted written requests to the University administration for extension of the last date of submission of application forms, as the mobile internet was totally shutdown for the last over four months, while many of the candidates, residing in far flung areas, were unaware about the process due to restrictions in place. "Despite submission of the written requests for extension of the last date the administration has been adamant to complete the process due to some unknown reasons", the candidates said, alleging that the manner in which the recruitment process has been completed by the administration, pointed towards something fishy in the entire process. Registrar of Kashmir University, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir said that there was no justification to extend of the last date of submitting application forms. "We gave them online option through all government colleges, as well as offline options to the candidates and wide circulation of the advertisement was given to the advertisement due to which over 6000 forms have already been received by them through offline mode", Dr. Mir said, adding that when online forms would be counted, there would be many more, so there was no justification for extension of last date. On being questioned why extra time could not be given during tense situations, Dr. Mir claimed that already one week's extension was given. When questioned about little circulation of newspapers in remote areas, Dr. Mir tried to justify his position by the number of application forms, which could be only from city areas. |
