Jammu, Dec 24: The failure of state government to appoint the members and Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has been delaying the recruitment for various gazetted posts of the candidates, who have been shortlisted for various posts including administrative services and Assistant professors. According to the government orders, the exercise to appoint new Chairpersons and Members JKPSC along with five other Commissions, was necessitated following the re-organization of J&K state into the Union Territories of J&K and Ladakh and all the members appointed in these bodies were deemed to have held office till October 31, 2019.
Sources informed Early Times that for the last over one and half months, the selection process of the Commission has almost stalled, barring few clerical works, due to the fact that Commission members were not in place, in absence of which not any policy decision or the selection process could be completed.
“The JKPSC secretariat have been doing the works such as compilation of lists, verification of documents and preparing the lists or making arrangements for conducting exams but most of the works could not be done without the Commission in place”, sources said, adding that in absence of the Commission members, the examination for various posts could not be conducted as well as interviews, while the selection lists would also not finalized.
Though Commission had finalized the date for conduct of various exams in the month of December but due to absence of Chairman and members, the examinations have been postponed, sources said, adding that most of the policy decisions required approval of the Commission, due to which process has been stalled.
The delay on part of the government to appoint the members, has been leaving the candidates, who have been shortlisted for interviews as well as ready to appear in written tests, were worried. “Though the delay might be helpful to some of the candidates, who rely on the internet facilities for preparation but some consider the delay not beneficial as it breaks the rhythm of studies”, the candidates said, adding that those qualified the JKAS Mains examination and the candidates for posts of Assistant Professors for various subjects and other posts in other departments, have been worried for delay.
