Traffic police fails to curb increasing road accidents in Rajouri | | | Rajesh Tandon
Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 4: The incidents of increasing road accidents in Rajouri district seems not to be subsided as offenders particularly commercial passenger vehicle owners, who have been openly violating traffic rules due to pathetic approach of traffic police. Sources told Early Times that there was no check on overloading of passenger vehicles and rash driving in Rajouri due to laxity of traffic police, which act as mute spectators due to their vested interests. Recently a horrific road accident took place in Lamberi village wherein nine people were killed who were boarding in the overcrowded vehicle, which raised the finger on the enforcement agencies, who failed to curb the offenders. Local alleged that traffic police take commissions from the commercial vehicles owners for unchecked driving. They further alleged that police stops only those vehicles, which refuse to fall into their line. There is long list of road accidents in the district in just recent past including Budhal, Thanamadi. Dy SP Traffic Jubaid Mirza, when contacted informed that all requisite measures will be taken up and he urged the people to cooperate with police to inform about the traffic offenders
