Jammu, Jan 6: An Associate Professor of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) Dr. R.K. Srivastava has attended 3rd review meeting of DST project. According to press release, the attended the meeting of DST Project at Wild Life Institute of India, Dehradun during 26-27 December, 2019 under Technology Interventions for Mountainous Ecosystem-Livelihood Enhancement through Action Research and Networking (TIME-LEARN) programme focused to improving livelihood of farmers of North West Himalayan region viz: Uttarakhand, Himanchal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Project entitled “Demonstration of technologies for improving productivity of rainfed area in Jammu district is operating in three villages namely Gargal, Kandi and Godhan of Akhnoor Tehsil of Jammu district. Under the project different soil and water conservation structures like poly tanks, percolation tanks, recharging pits (48 m3), small check dams, small gabions, roof water harvesting system, contour /compartmental bunding, continuous contour trenching, bench terracing system were constructed at project site for conservation of soil and water resources.
