31 vehicles seized by RTO Kathua

Kathua, Jan. 31. Continuing drive to check menace of traffic violations, team of Motor Vehicles Department, Kathua under supervision of RTO, Kathua, Dr. Raj K. Thapa conducted checking of vehicles violating traffic laws on the National Highway in Kathua.
The main objective of the drive was to check the menace of overloading and overheight in heavy vehicles. During the drive, a total of 87 vehicles were checked and 31 vehicles were seized. The vehicles were seized under section 207 of Motor Vehicles Act. In addition to the vehicles seized, two vehicles were challaned and subsequently compounded till the last reports received. The violations which were detected comprised of section 184 (dangerous driving), 3/181 (without DL), 190-II (without PUCC), 113/94 (Overload), Sec. 39/192 (contravention of RC), Sec. 166/192 A and 156/192 (Deficient documents), sec 177, Sec- 50/177 (general offences) and other miscellaneous offences.
In addition to the challans/compounding, the drivers were provided awareness and counselling in respect of various traffic laws & rules and also about the importance of safety measures like seat belt, fitness of vehicles, hazards of over height, overload, protruding material and mobile phones while driving.
The other members of team comprised of, Vikas Srivats MVI, Sh. Kamal Kumar MVI and Sh. Parhsotam Lal.
