Revenue Dept Pouni demolishes private structure without serving prior notices | | | Rajesh Tandon Early times Report
Jammu, Jan 31: The Revenue Department Pouni of district Reasi has allegedly demolished a part of private residence without serving prior notices to the owner of the house in order to make space for widening of road. Sources told Early Times that the Revenue Department demolished boundary walls of a house belong to Tara Chand of village Bhagot Khalasa Ward no 4 of Panchayat Bhambla block and tehsil Pouni, for widening of road for PWD, which has been constructing road in the area. The victim, Tara Chand alleged that a team of Revenue Department led by Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar Pouni and local police force carried out demolition of boundary walls of his house without giving him notice. “The department should have given him notice prior to take action. We were not against the demand of department for widening of road but department should have contacted me so that I could have put forth my request of providing some compensation in lieu of land but I was not taken into confidence by the department and resulting Revenue Department took action in hush-hush manner,” he alleged. “The demolition was taken place , when my mother and wife was present in the home and there was no male person in the home,” he said. He further said that as per rule at least three notices are served to the person before taking demolition drive. Although Revenue Department claimed that notice has been served to the family before taking action but victim said he didn’t receive.
