Additional monthly incentives approved for Asst Professors and PG, Senior Residents of GMC Doda

Early Times Report

JAMMU, Jan 31: The Administrative Council which met under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor, G C Murmu accorded sanction to the payment of additional monthly incentive of Rs 30,000 to Assistant Professors and Rs 15,000 to Postgraduate Senior Residents engaged on academic arrangement in Government Medical College, Doda. This will be in addition to the entitlement under the Jammu & Kashmir Academic Arrangement Rules notified by the Health and Medical Education Department vide SRO 24 of 2019 dated 10.01.2019
Many positions of Assistant Professors in the new Medical Colleges have been filled up on regular basis on recommendations of J&K, PSC. Wherever selections have not been received from PSC, Assistant Professors have also been engaged on academic arrangement basis in order to obtain permission for 100 MBBS seats each in these Medical Colleges.
The Government Medical College, Doda is confronted with a peculiar problem that despite advertisements, the college is unable to attract the entry level faculty and post PG Registrars/Demonstrators which may be attributed to the remote location of the Medical College in District Doda. The provision of an additional incentive has been suggested to address the shortage of faculty in the Medical College as a onetime measure.
The decision will also help to make Government Medical College, Doda fully operational and facilitate admissions to the first batch of MBBS in the Medical College during the academic session 2020-21.
