UTRC inspects Central and District Jail

JAMMU, Feb 1: The Under Trail Review Committee inspected Central Jail Kot Balwal and District Jail Amphalla to review cases of all under-trial prisoners presently lodged therein.
The Committee was comprised of Chairman DLSA Jammu (Principal District & Sessions Judge Jammu)R.K Wattal, Secretary DLSA Jammu Naushad Ahmed Khan, S.P North Amrit Pal Singh, ADC Jammu Ganshayan Singh and Retainer Lawyer Advocate Manjeet Partap Singh.
During the visit, the Committee also took stock of basic necessities including clean drinking water, food, medical care, sanitation, proper clothing, bedding hygiene with respect to keeping of kitchen, toilets and barracks etc.
The Committee members interacted with inmates to listen to their grievances that includes non-availability of escorts for transportation of accused to the respective courts, non availability of Medical Escorts from GMC, providing of Dental Chair in the Jail, holding of medical camps, under trial as well as convicts awaiting deportation, insufficient number of fire extinguisher in jail.
The committee issued on the spot directions to concerned authorities to redress the genuine grievances.
