H&ME Deptt takes cognizance of ET report, deputes child specialist to Ramnagar Hospital

UDHAMPUR, Feb 11: The Health and Medical Education Department of J&K Union Territory has taken cognizance of Early Times report published in its February 9 edition under the caption ‘No post of child specialist at Ramnagar Hospital: Director Health Jammu’.
The news item had highlighted that there was no post of a child specialist at Ramnagar Hospital while 10 kids died there.
It is in place to mention here that when Early Times contacted Director Health Jammu, Dr Renu Sharma and asked her about the reasons for not deputing a child specialist at Ramnagar Hospital even after the deaths of 10 children there.
The Director while responding had informed that there is no sanctioned post of a child specialist for Ramnagar Hospital.
However, within two days, the H&ME Department posted two doctors including Dr Subash Chander, Consultant Paediatrician in the hospital and both the transferees shall be deemed to have been relieved from their respective place of posting with immediate effect.
Locals have hailed the bold reporting of the newspaper that helped them in getting a child specialist for Ramnagar Hospital.
