SMVDNSH saves life of 62 years | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 11: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH) saved the life of 62-year old Tika Poudal (from Nepal), who suffered massive heart attack during the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine pilgrimage track. Poudal had come to Katra along with her daughter Binita Puodal and Pankaj Mishra but she suffered a heart attack on her way to Bhawan. She was given first aid on the Yatra route and was immediately referred to SMVDNSH for further treatment. When she reached the SMVDNSH at Kakryal, Poudal's condition was very critical and she had no heartbeat for a few minutes! But qualified doctors at SMVDNSH saved her life by leveraging their life-saving skills and performing complex cardiac procedures. Dr. Nikhil Mahajan, Associate Consultant Cardiology, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital (SMVDNSH), said, "The patient came with the history of severe Heart Attack and the heartbeat of the patient had stopped, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) was performed to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing of the patient to keep oxygenated blood flowing to the brain and other vital organs until more definitive medical treatment can restore a normal heart rhythm. Once the heartbeat was restored, stenting was immediately performed to open the blocked artery of the patient and stop the recurrence of a heart attack." |
