J&KPSS, Srinagar organizes Punjabi conference

Jammu, Feb 11: Jammu & Kashmir Punjabi Sahit Sabha, Srinagar in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages today organized its annual conference at K L Saigal Hall, Cultural Academy Jammu today.
The conference was dedicated to 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Dr. Baljit Kaur was the chief guest during the inaugural session whereas Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL presided over the function.
Dr. Monojit, President, Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu, S. Ajit Singh Mastana, President, J&K PSS, Srinagar and Rajinbder Singh Rajan, Secretary, J&KPSS shared the dais.
Key- note address was presented by S. Ajit Singh Mastana, Presidet of the Sabha who gave the detail of the programme and the prevailing currents in the Punjabi literary circles in Jammu & Kashmir.
A book of short stories written by S. Ratan Singh Kanwal and the special issue of ‘Himaal’ a magazine of the organization, were released in this session.
Two papers on life and principles of Guru Nanak Dev and journey of ‘Himaal’ were read out by S. Kanwal Kashmiri and Ratan Singh Kanwal, respectively. Jenab Khalid Hussain presided over the session.
A Kavi Durbar was organized during the third and last session of the conference where S. Pritpal Singh Betab Retd IAS presided over the session. Poets of different languages presented their poems dedicated to Guru Nanak Dev Ji and his teachings. The poets who presented their poetry included Amarjeet Neer, Suraj Singh Suraj, Harbhajan Singh Upasak, Ichhpal Singh, M S Kaamra, Jang S. Verman, Ajit Singh Mastana, Dr. Balji Singh Raina, Pyaasa Anjum, Harji Singh Uppal, Ameen Banihali and Pritpal Singh Betab.
