Srinagar, Feb 28 : Border towns of Karnah and Machil, besides dozens of far-flung and remote villages, including those near the Line of Control (LoC), were again cut off in north Kashmir on Friday due to landslides triggered by rain since early morning. However, despite wet weather, traffic was plying normally on the road leading to border town of Keran. ‘’Traffic has been suspended on dozens of far-flung and remote villages, including Karnah and Machil, due to landslides, triggered by moderate to heavy rain since early this morning,’’ an official of Police Control Room (PCR), Kupwara, told over phone on Friday. Snow clearance operation to put through traffic to border town of Gurez has been hampered due to rain since early this morning. Razdan pass, connecting Gurez, Neeru and dozens of other areas near LoC with district headquarters Bandipora, remained closed from last four months due to accumulation of about 12 feet of snow. |
