POONCH, Feb 28: Taking cognizance of missing ballot papers’ resurfacing in Panchayat Ari Mardan Shah of block Mendhar in district Poonch after recounting of votes was ordered, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Jammu and Kashmir has asked the District Electoral Officer (DEO), Poonch to submit the recounting report prepared by District Panchayat Officer. Acting on the directions of CEO Jammu and Kashmir, the District Electoral Officer, Poonch issued notice to Tahira Jabeen, Nahida Koser, Mohd Fazal RO, Ari Mardan Shah, Farooq Qureshi, AERO and District Panchayat Officer to be present in his office chamber at Poonch on February 29 for clarification of missing counter foils of ballot papers. It is in place to mention here that Nahida Akhter, one of the candidates for Sarpanch of Ari Mardan Shah Panchayat had filed a petition for recounting as it was alleged by her that few officials supervising the election process conspired against her to help one of her opponents. The candidate Nahida Akhter smelt conspiracy against her during counting of votes and alleged that bundles of some votes are interchanged during counting by the RO, Mohd Fazal in order to help the other candidate Tahira Jabeen, who happened to be wife of Revenue Department’s Girdawar, who influenced the RO to ensure Tahira Jabeen’s win by any means. |
