JMC House proceedings adjourn as Councillors create ruckus over development issue, clash with Mayor | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 28: The proceedings of Jammu Municipal Corporation House on Friday adjourned after councillors created ruckus over development issue in their respective wards. Some of the councillors also clashed with the Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta during the proceedings. Corporator Raj Kumar of Ward Number 1 alleged that despite his repeated requests, the number of “safai karamchari’ have not been appointed and also the garbage lifting vehicle not allotted. He said that his Ward is stinking as the garbage is not being cleared and people are raising fingers at him. The corporator created hullabaloo in the house alleging that no development is taking place in the wards and he was also backed by other councillors on the same concern. He staged sit in on the floor of the house and threatened to shave his head in protest. Meanwhile JMC Mayor Chander Mohan Gupta intervened but it led to clash between Mayor and the Councillors. The corporators shouted slogans and created ruckus in the House following which it was adjourned for 30 minutes. Later speaking to reporters outside the House, the councillors expressed concern over rising heaps of garbage in the city and alleged that the Corporation has failed to address the peoples concern and they also not sanctioning machinery to the wards for developmental works and cleanliness drives barring few wards, which are represented by BJP corporators. |
