Court award 10 years RI to teacher in POCSO | | | Early Times REport
JAMMU, Feb 29: Principal Sessions Judge Rajouri Jaffer Hussain Beigh today awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to one Hardev Singh R/O Kotranka District Rajouri who is teacher by profession. It is worthwhile to mention here that it is First Conviction in J&K under POSCO Act. Principal Sessions Judge Rajouri while awarding conviction observed that accused is teacher and trustee of the child student in the school. As far as the profession of the accused and his relation with the child student in the school is concerned, the law expects high degree of character, honesty and confidence and hence higher sentence require to be prescribed. For these reasons, I sentence accused, namely, Hardev Singh to undergo rigorous imprisonment for ten years and to pay a fine of Rs.10,000/- and in default of payment of fine he shall further undergo imprisonment of like nature for 6 months for the commission of offence under section 10 POCSO, the judge said. The complainant along with the victim submitted an application against the accused Hardev Singh before Police Station Kandi that the teacher abused her physically after the school hours at Primary School Kotranka. |
