Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 1: Scores of Khidmat centre employees of J&K Bank held a protest demonstration here on Sunday demanding permanent job policy. Under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Khidmat Centre Association assembled here at Press Club and held a protest demonstration while chanting slogans like ‘We want justices’ and ‘we demand job Policy’.
One of the protesters said that they were recruited in the year 2008 and onwards and were assured permanent job policy by J&K Bank authorities.
“Despite our services from time to time, we are deprived by the concerned authorities of job policy. We have been doing every task assigned by the Bank,” He said. The protesters said that they have been assured by former Governor of erstwhile state of J&K their job policy under which more than 1000 candidates’ would be absorbed by the Bank.
“Till date we have only received assurances since the concerned authorities are befooling us for years,’ protesting Khidmat centre employees said. As per the reports, the protesting employees marched towards the National Highway; however the women police personnel came into action and foiled the protest march.
The Kdhimat centres and recruitment of candidates were a part of e-governance started by the Bank and their employees were called Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs), another protester, Tanveer Haji informed.
He said that they are roaming from pillar to post for years demanding their job policy but the concerned authorities seem not to bother about their future.
“We are the Khidmat centre holders and we solely operate it by the directions of the Bank as banking correspondents,” he said. Association members have appealed to the LG, J&K to intervene in the matter and ask the J&K Bank authorities to frame a job policy as promised for them else they would be compelled to hit the streets again.
