Early Times Report
Anantnag, Mar 1: A Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) posted in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district is allegedly harassing his staff and even makes telephone calls his female staff members during odd hours. As per the reports, the staff members have now filled a written compliant with the higher-ups of the Jammu and Kashmir Education Department and sought a ‘stern’ action against the ‘erring official’, who has been blessed by the department to monitor few education zones of the district. In the complaint, teachers have alleged that the officer was also indulging in ‘corrupt practices’. “He (Officer) is harassing us and even makes telephone calls to female staff members during odd hours that is simply unacceptable,” a group of teachers, whishing anonymity told Early Times. They said that the officer is misusing his powers as he has transferred over hundred teachers without consulting his senior officers. The officer, on being contacted, refuted the allegations, however confirmed that he is being probed by the education department. “Department has initiated an enquiry against me and I am facing the enquiry,” he said, adding he ready to face ‘the music’ if he is found quality. ZEO however claimed that no female teacher turned before the enquiry committee and deposed against him. “The allegations leveled against me are not true. Had I done wrong teachers would have told the enquiry committee but none among them did do but I ready to face any kind of action if I am found guilty,” he added. Important to mention here the ‘additional charge syndrome’ is adversely effecting the school education system in Kashmir as the ZEOs have been given additional charge of some education zones don’t do justice with their job. |
