Div Com discusses arrangements for Red Cross Mela

JAMMU, MARCH 02: Divisional Commissioner, Sanjeev Verma, who is also Chairman of Regional Red Cross Society Jammu, today chaired a meeting of heads of various departments to discuss the arrangements for the annual Red Cross Mela-cum Raffle draw 2020.

The meeting was attended by Honorary Secretary Red Cross Society Jammu, Vinod Malhotra, besides senior functionaries of Health, Police, Industries, Education, JMC, SRTC, Social Welfare, BSF, Army, CRPF, members’ civil societies and other concerned departments.

Threadbare discussions were held with regard to sale of Raffle Draw tickets, sponsorships and making other necessary arrangements for annual Red Cross Mela-cum-Raffle Draw 2020. The officers gave their valuable suggestions for making the event a grand success.

The meeting was informed that the objective of organizing the Red Cross Mela is to create awareness among the general masses about the Red Cross and raise funds for the welfare activities of the society. It was informed that the funds generated would be used for providing financial assistance to poor and treatment of needy patients.

The Div Com stressed on greater involvement of social organizations and youth for extending services to downtrodden and those facing distress due to manmade or natural calamities besides providing services to destitute, orphans and needy people.

The Div Com asked the departments to cooperate with the Red Cross Society in the sale of tickets and other arrangements to make the event successful. He further asked the concerned to work with close synergy and maintain close liaison with each other. He urged the education authorities to motivate students and colleges for engaging in such activities for welfare of the people.
