IMD warns of rain, snow in JK during next 48 hrs | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 5: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday issued a warning for widespread moderate rain, snow and thundershowers in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir and scattered light snow in Ladakh region during the next 48 hours. “Be prepared, updated and keep vigil” during the next 48 hours, a Met department spokesman said this evening. He said there could be widespread moderate rain and snow besides thundershowers in Jammu and Kashmir and scattered light snow in Ladakh region during the next 24 hours. There will be no large change in the weather during subsequent two days, he said adding this will be followed by scattered, isolated and fairly widespread rain or snow till March 11. He said due to snowfall on upper heights and rain in plains, the maximum temperature witnessed drop resulting in cold. The day temperature was 0.6 degree to 3.8 degree below normal at different places in the valley on Thursday. The summer capital of UT, Srinagar, recorded 10.3 degree maximum temperature today which was 2.8 degree below normal. There could be widespread moderate rain or snow in Srinagar during the next 24 hours when the maximum and minimum temperature could be 10 degree, again below normal and 4 degree respectively during the next 24 hours. He said Leh recorded 10.6 degree maximum temperature while the minimum was minus 4.7 degree at Leh on Thursday. The sky would be generally cloudy and the maximum and minimum temperature would be around 10 degree and minus 5 degree respectively at Leh during the next 24 hours. |
