Forest Deptt imparts inadequate trainings to its recruits | Fails to formulate standards, syllabus as well as duration | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Mar 5: Forest Department seems to be non-serious towards providing essential trainings to its recruit in Forest Protection Force (FPF)as it has been imparting inadequate trainings to them due to non-formulation of prescribed syllabus, standards and duration of training courses. Moreover, hundreds of forest guards were appointed in a particular district in past without providing them basic trainings in violation of rules. Sources told Early Times that according to FPF rules, every person on entering service in the Forest Protection Force as direct recruit in any rank have to undergo an initial training course for efficient performance of the duties. They further said that even enrolled members of Force on being selected for promotion are also required to undergo a special course at any training institute for a duration that may be fixed by the Government. “Passing out such courses are essential for regular promotion and for joining duty but it has been observed that the required standards, syllabus and duration of training courses had not been formulated yet,” they added. Sources further said that over hundreds of forest guards were appointed in a particular District have not been provided basic training and were posted in Gamma units for field duty for the last more than seven years. “The training couldn’t be provided due to failure to notify Recruitment Rules by the government. Interestingly, the Guards, who were appointed without training, were reappointed after their earlier selection was scrapped by the Government in compliance of Court directions. The decision in connection with their training yet to be taken by the concerned authority,” they said. |
