Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Mar 5: District Development Commissioner, Rajinder Singh Tara today chaired a meeting to take a stock of water supply scenario in the district and progress of languishing project scheme PHE works. He also reviewed the achievements under PM-KISAN Yojana. The DDDC sought advance measures for meeting the increase in demand during summer season, as the meeting discussed bottlenecks related to the various water supply schemes (WSS) in the district. Presently, three major Water Supply Schemes(WSS) are coming up in the district including prestigious Naigad water supply scheme - envisaged to meet the shortage of Kishtwar Township and its adjoining areas, the meeting was told. Hasti water lifting scheme on river Chenab to main reservoirs and Jal-Jivan Mission scheme for Trigam, Drabshalla and Thakrie blocks, besides other small schemes are also coming up to overcome water shortage in distressed areas, the meeting was further told. The DDC directed the PHE authorities to expedite the pace of work on the mega schemes to benefit the people. The DDC also reviewed the preparedness for meeting anticipated water crisis in the summer season. He directed the XEn PHE to keep the provision of tanker supply to meet crisis, if any, during summer season.
