A Meteorological department spokesperson told UNI that heavy rain and snow would occur at isolated places while widespread light to moderate rain and thundershowers would occur during the next three days in most places in the valley under the influence of a Western Disturbance (WD), which is active in the region. There is possibility of thundershowers/hail story and gushing winds with a speed of 30-40 km per hour at few places of Kashmir during these three days, he said. He said this may lead to temporary disruption of surface and air transportation, including Srinagar-Jammu national highway and Sadhna pass. ''Farmers are advised to suspend Agricultural operations and drain out excess water from fields/orchards,'' he added. Gulmarg, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir, received fresh snow since early this morning, resulting in further dip in the day temperature. Kongdori and Apharwat, the highest point of the cable car project in Gulmarg, also received light to moderate snowfall. ''Despite snow since early this morning, the tourists are out on ski slopes, which are already covered under several feet of snow, enjoying different activities,'' a hotelier told . About 830 players from different parts of the country are scheduled to participate in 30 events of the First ever Khelo India-winter games being held from Saturday at Gulmarg, where the ski slopes are covered under several feet of snow. After witnessing slight dip in the night temperature, people woke up to a chilly Thursday morning in the summer capital, Srinagar. The weather remained chilly throughout day as intermittent rain continued in the city, where people could be seen wearing jackets, sweaters and pheran (traditional Kashmiri cloak) to evade chilly weather conditions.
