3/7/2020 11:14:00 PM
Early times Report

Jammu, Mar 7: A meeting was organised by the Block Congress Committee in Akhnoor regarding the compensation of land to people affected by the ongoing road widening project from Akhnoor Bypass to Daskal Road & from old Akhnoor bridge to Punnu Chowk. The meeting was presided over by Congress leader Satish Sharma.
In the meeting Satish Sharma urged the government & NHAI to clear the doubts in the mind of people whose land is being acquired for the road widening project as there is no clarity from where the road & bridges associated with the widening will be built which is causing a lot of panic amongst the people of the area. Many houses & shops are also getting affected and the people should be told at the earliest the proposed map of the road so that they can plan accordingly and do the needful if any of their construction is coming in the way of proposed road.
Satish Sharma demanded that the compensation to the affected people whose land will be acquired should be given the compensation as per the Right to Fair Compensation & Tranparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation & Resettlement Act,2013 passed by the then congress government to give fair compensation to the owners of land which is acquired by the government for development works.
He demanded that as per the Act the affected people should be given 4 times the market price of land acquired.
