10 years on, passenger shed still incomplete
3/7/2020 11:38:49 PM

EARLY TIMES REPORT

UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: Incredible it may sound but it’s a reality that work on construction of a passenger shed in one of the busy points in the town has not been completed for the last ten years.
Astonishingly, the Municipality is now planning to convert the infrastructure into shops.
Sources informed that work on the passenger shed at Mini Bus stop at Sallian Talab in Udhampur started about ten years ago for the convenience of passengers, who wait to board public transport.
However, due to lackadaisical approach of the concerned construction agencies the work failed to meet the deadline and is still incomplete.
They further informed that district as well as Municipal administration constructed many passenger sheds in different places of Udhampur town but ignored to complete this shed for nearly a decade.
When contacted, Udhampur Municipality President said that they are planning to convert the infrastructure into shops to generate more revenue.
“The shops will be ready by April this year and the money generated from this will be used for the development of the town,” he informed.
Meanwhile, few members of the civil society expressed resentment against this and questioned how come that shops will be ready by April while passenger shed remained incomplete in ten long years.
