Darkness grips Gole Market during nights as Municipality failed to repair mast light

UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: The mast light at busy Gole Market here is non-functional but the Electrical wing of Municipal authorities responsible for its maintenance and care take are in deep slumber as far as its repair is concerned.
Non-functional mast light is resulting in complete darkness at the busy Gole Market area during evenings and nights which undoubtedly is an open invitation to crimes like eve teasing, thefts and snatching.
Om Prakash, a local, told this reporter that he is very much worried as his children have to go for tuition at early morning every day via Gole Market area which remains in total darkness.
Moreover, due to constant rains there are many spots where water get logged due to which one may fall and get hurt due to darkness at Gole Market area, he added
We are facing difficulties for keeping the crime under control as well as patrolling during night time due to the absence of lights, said a policeman, who is part of the patrolling party during night.
The locals have appealed to DC Udhampur to direct the concerned authorities to get the mast light repaired immediately so that the public may heave a sigh of relief.
