Thakur meets Grammy Awardee musician Wouter Kelleman | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 7: Balwant Thakur-the Cultural Diplomat of India to South Africa today met with world famous musician, Grammy Awardee Wouter Kelleman at the Consulate General of India Johannesburg. The meeting was aimed at finalizing Indo-South African music initiatives to bring musicians from both the nations on one stage to showcase fusion concerts of both the countries. Wouter Kelleman won 57th annual Grammy Award for his album ‘Winds of Sasara’ in the year 2014 and has the honour of performing on behalf of South Africa for Prime Minister of India Nariendra Modi during his visit to Johannesburg in the year 2016. The fusion music concerts of African Jazz, traditional African music and Indian classical/folk are being planned for both the countries where musicians from both the countries will do live concerts. This first such concert will be organised in Johannesburg in September, 2020. Describing details, Balwant Thakur informed that though there is a huge demand of Rajasthani folk but efforts will be made to include Dogri and Kashmiri folk music in such fusion concerts.
