Doctor seeking masks-sanitizers gets marching orders, DAJ demands revocation of transfer | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Mar 7: Two days after a member of the Doctors Association, Jammu (DAJ) demanded masks and sanitizers for medicos and other professionals dealing with deadly coronavirus patients, the Health authorities transferred him to Batote Health Centre. The doctors have threatened protest if the transfer of doctors is not revoked and their demand of masks, gloves and sanitizers to doctors and health workers is not conceded. It is pertinent to mention here that Doctors Association, Jammu on Thursday had appealed to the government to arrange proper masks, gloves and hand sanitizers for doctors working in government hospitals of J&K Union Territory as Coronavirus is spreading worldwide and doctors treating patients are on high risk of getting infected. Association leader, Dr Balvinder Singh had said if the doctors get infected while treating patients, the infection can be then spread to other patients too. It is worthwhile to mention here that most of the hospitals are not providing masks and hand sanitizers to doctors in J&K. The Association had also demanded separate OPDs for flu like illness to prevent Coronavirus infection. When contacted, president of Doctors Association, Jammu Dr Balvinder Singh said that this exposes inefficiency of the people at helm of affairs in the Health Department. He also said that masks and sanitizers are necessary to prevent corona virus from spreading. |
