Health worker assaulted, injured in Anantnag, FIR registered | | | SAAHIL SUHAIL EARLY TIMES REPORT
ANANTNAG, Apr 12: A health worker was assaulted and injured in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district when she went to counsel a person having travel history. The incident has taken place in Brad Aishmuqam village of Anantnag district on Friday evening, according to health department officials. As per the reports, Asha worker namely Parveena, wife of, Ghulam Rasool Shah, a resident of Magrey Mohalla Brad Aishmuqam, was attacked by a resident namely Mohd Yasin Shah of the same village allegedly for sharing his travel information with some officials. Mohd Yasin Shah Shah, working with Jammu and Kashmir Police, had arrived home from Jammu few days back and the health worker had accordingly informed her Department about his arrival. Dr Mohd Salim Beg, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Mattan told Early Times that the health worker has visited the residence of a person (assailant) to counsel him and provide him related information about COVID-19 but the worker was attacked. “It’s an unfortunate incident; our health worker was attacked and injured only because she had visited a family to counsel a member of the family who has travel industry,” BMO said. He said that the health worker was initially treated at Sub-District Hospital Anantnag and later was shifted to Government Medical College Anantnag. “She spent a night at GMC Anantnag and was treated. I personally went to see her and dropped her at her residence. She was brought the issue in the notice of Police and we hope people with travel history will support us instead of attacking our frontline workers who are doing good work at the moment across the globe,” he added. Station House Officer Aishmuqam, Javed Ahmad said that they have taken the cognizance of the incident and registered a case under relevant sections. “We are investigating the case,” he said. However, refuting the allegation, Mohd Yasin Shah claimed that they have property dispute with the family of health worker and claimed that the health worker wasn’t on duty. “She (health worker) was working in her orchard along with her family and they attacked us when we raised objections over removal of bribed wire,” he said, adding the incident was no way linked to COVID-19 crises. |
