Cracks surface in NC leadership as Omar's aide distances from Abdullahs | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 15: After the release of the former Chief Minister and National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah and his son Omar Abdullah, the NC looks divided as some of the leaders have distanced themselves from the Abdullahs. Sources said some of the party leaders including one of the key aides of Omar Abdullah have distanced from the party activities since the release of the two leaders. Sources said the said leader who was seen as one of the key supporters of the Omar's lobby has not met the twin leaders since their release. Sources said though some of NC leaders are trying to convince the aide to call on the Abdullahs, the said leader has been reluctant. It was reliably learnt that the leader is not happy with the NC as the "party has yet not made public its political policy" after the release of the Abdullahs. Sources said the said leader used to be among the most prominent faces in the inner circles on Omar Abdullah's close aides and they would even go for holidaying together. While Dr Abdullah refrained himself from making any political statement after his release, son Omar has also followed father's footsteps after his release. Though Omar Abdullah has been active on Twitter since the moment he was released from prison last month, he doesn't post anything political or linked to political situation in Kashmir. The party has also not held any press conferences since the release of the father son duo. The last time the party held a press conference was to seek release of Dr Abdullah and a few days after that he was released. It is pertinent to mention that the Abdullahs were released from detention after former RAW chief AS Dulat held a secret meeting with the NC patron at latter's Gupkar residence. |
