27 fresh cases push number of positive cases of COVID-19 to 407 in JK, 310 are active cases | Pulwama joins Doda, Poonch, Reasi, Ramban, Kishtwar as COVID free districts | | Jehangir Rashid

SRINAGAR, Apr 22: With 27 fresh cases of Corona Virus coming to fore from different parts of Kashmir today the number of people affected by COVID-19 in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir are 407. At the same time Pulwama today became COVID-19 free after three positive patients recovered from the pandemic. The fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported from Shopian (14 cases), Bandipora (six cases), Kupwara (four cases), Baramulla (two cases) and Anantnag (one case). With today’s fresh cases the number of people affected by Corona Virus in Kashmir is 351 while as the number of such patients in Jammu is 56. As 92 persons have recovered so far and five others have died the number of active cases of COVID-19 in the union territory are 310. It would be in place to mention here that districts like Doda, Poonch, Reasi and Ramban in the Jammu division have so far not been affected by Corona Virus. At the same time the Kishtwar district had one positive case of Corona Virus who too has recovered. Pulwama district of Kashmir today became COVID-19 free after three positive patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 27 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), (all from Kashmir division), were reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 407. Out of 407 positive cases, 310 are active positive, 92 have recovered and five have died. “Moreover 11 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged, six from District Hospital Pulwama, three from SKIMS-Soura and two from Chest Diseases Hospital Srinagar. Furthermore, till date 64,089 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that these include 5,806 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 252 in hospital quarantine, 310 in hospital isolation and 15,376 under home surveillance. Besides, 42340 persons have completed their surveillance period. It said that out of 10,039 test results available, 9,632 samples have tested as negative till April 22, 2020. The bulletin said that Bandipora has 97 positive cases wherein 78 are active Positive, 18 recovered and one has died, Srinagar 79 positive cases with 51 active positive, 27 recovered and one died and Baramulla 47 positive cases with 41 active positive, four recovered and two died. “Shopian has 46 positive cases with 40 active positive, six recovered; Kupwara has 37 positive cases with 31 active positive and six recovered; Ganderbal has 14 positive cases with 12 active positive, two recovered; Budgam 13 positive cases of which four are active positive with nine recovered cases; Kulgam has six cases and all are active positive; Pulwama three positive cases and all recovered; Anantnag district has nine positive cases and all are active positive,” reads the bulletin. Similarly, Jammu has 26 positive cases of whom 21 are active positive and five have recovered, Udhampur 20 positive cases of which 11 are active positive, eight recovered and one died, while as Samba district has four positive cases and all are active positive; Rajouri has four positive cases, one active positive and three cases have recovered; Kathua has one positive case which is active positive. Meanwhile, Kishtwar has only one positive case who has recovered. Meanwhile, according to the advisory issued in the media bulletin, COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease which can affect anyone and best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. The advisory said that for protection against this disease, people are requested to stay indoors and strictly implement social distancing measures. “People are advised to take basic precautions for personal hygiene; frequent hand washing with soap and water; observing coughing and sneezing etiquettes and wearing mask or face cover while moving out of their homes. A Tele-Survey covering about 2 crore phones across the country is being carried out by NIC,” reads the advisory. It said that public is informed that the call will be coming into mobile phones from the calling number 1921; call is enabled in IVRS at number 1921. The 1921 facility will come in handy for people who can/are not using smart phones and are contacting through landlines or feature phones. People are informed that it is a genuine survey and are requested to participate in good measure when a call comes in from 1921 to enable proper feedback of the prevalence. |
