EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, May 1: “A Blazing Torch”, biopic of Former Union Minister and three times Member Parliament from Udhampur Prof Chaman Lal Gupta will be launched tomorrow at 10:00 am on Youtube and other social media platforms.
The biopic provides a mesmerizing picture and insight into his personal and political life.
Prof Gupta’s life has been quite an eventful and triumphant journey.
Movie is produced to celebrate this illustrious life and inspire a million others, The biopic chronicles the motivating journey of the veteran and socialite Prof Chaman Lal Gupta and talks about the vision that drove him to politics way back in 1959..
This Biopic primarily scripts the story of the veteran stalwart who right from his student days worked as a Pracharak for RSS in Gujarat at a time when RSS was being viewed as extremist organization especially after the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. It was his passion to serve the masses that in 1953 he joined the agitation launched by Pandit Prem Nath Dogra along with the towering leader of country Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherji to protest against provision of two Heads and two flags in a single country with the slogan “Ek Desh Mein Do Pradhan, Do Nishan, Do Vidhan Nahin Chalega.” It was during this period that he remained on 21 days hunger strike.
In 1972 on advice of Pandit Prem Nath Dogra he resigned from Government service as Professor of Physics at the prime age of 37 years and fought the election and elected to the State legislature.
He strongly opposed the imposition of Emergency in country and actively participated in protests and evaded the arrests by remaining in disguise in Chandigarh, Haryana and several other places.
Being staunch opponent of the Article 370, Prof Gupta fought for the abrogation of this obnoxious provision throughout his life before finally achieving it on August 5, 2019 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi led dispensation at centre abrogated it.
The biopic has been Produced by Prof Chaman Lal Gupta Foundation and Directed by renowned Director from Jammu Late Shiv Dutt. The film, which features actors from Jammu incorporates some original clips and comments of senior leaders and citizens on life and journey of Prof Gupta.
In a press note Anil Gupta, spokesperson for Prof Chaman Lal Gupta Foundation, said that the movie was scheduled to release in theatres but due to the prevailing situation arising out in country and world due to Covid-19, the biopic is being launched on social media platform (Youtube).
