SRINAGAR, May 1: The Kashmir valley continues to report fresh cases of Corona Virus with 25 more persons today testing positive for COVID-19. These cases were reported from as many as seven districts of the valley. With today’s fresh cases the number of positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir has reached 639. Since 247 COVID-19 patients have recovered and eight others have died the number of active cases of Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir are 384. In Kashmir there are 378 active cases while as the number is six in Jammu division. Out of the fresh cases reported today the Anantnag district in South Kashmir accounted for 12 cases. Kupwara district in North Kashmir reported for six fresh cases of COVID-19 followed by Srinagar and Shopian that have reported two cases each. Baramulla, Bandipora and Shopian districts have reported one case each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 25 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), all from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 639. Out of 639 positive cases, 384 are active positive, 247 have recovered and eight have died. The bulletin said that 31 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals of Kashmir Division. It said that out of 21,695 test results available, 21,056 samples have tested as negative till May 01, 2020. “Furthermore, till date 71,837 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which includes 8,109 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 185 in hospital quarantine, 384 in hospital isolation and 8,430 under home surveillance. Besides, 54,721 persons have completed their surveillance period,” the bulletin said. The bulletin said that Bandipora has 128 positive cases, 92 are active positive, 35 recovered (including 11 recoveries today), one died; Anantnag district has 95 positive cases with 94 active positive, one died; Srinagar reported two fresh cases today taking positive cases to 91 with 20 active positive, 69 recovered (including 11 recoveries today), two died,” said the bulletin. The bulletin said that Baramulla has 85 positive cases with 56 active positive, 26 recovered (including five recoveries today), three died; Shopian has 74 positive cases, 57 active positive, 17 recovered (including four recoveries today); Kupwara has 55 positive cases with 36 active positive, 19 recovered; Budgam has 21 positive cases of which 10 are active positive with 11 recovered cases (including one recovery today). “Ganderbal has 14 positive cases with one active positive and 13 recovered (including eight recoveries today); Kulgam has 11 positive cases with eight Active Positive and three recoveries (including one recovery today); Pulwama has seven positive cases with four active positive, three recovered,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 26 positive cases and all of them have recovered; Udhampur 20 positive cases of which two are active positive, 17 recovered and one died, while as Samba district has four positive cases and all the cases have recovered; Rajouri has four positive cases, one active positive and three have recovered. “Kathua has one positive case which is active positive; Kishtwar had only one positive case which has recovered; Ramban has one positive case which is active positive; Reasi has one positive case which is active positive. The breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing,” said the bulletin. Emphasizing upon the importance of wearing masks, advisory issued in the media bulletin said people are informed that “wearing masks protects you and your family members from the COVID-19 infection.” Masks lower the chances of corona virus entering the respiratory system through droplets still in the air from an infected person when a person with COVID-19 coughs or exhales, the advisory informed. Stressing on the early detection of COVID-19 to prevent the spread of disease, advisory said, “let us be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us.” It further said that not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. “In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice,” reads the advisory. |
