BARAMULLA, May 1: Despite affected by Covid-19, the Indo-Pak armies trade gunfire along the Line of Control in Uri sector of this north Kashmir district on Friday. Sources while quoting the police official as having said that the shelling started today at Hajipeer sector of Uri area after Pakistan army violated ceasefire violation by attacking Indian army posts. The soldiers manning the fence retaliated strongly, and after our retaliation there was a lull for some period of time, adding basically they are trying to push the militants into this side of LoC, a senior army official told ET. He said that, we have been vigilantly watching their movements, and they will not be succeeding in all their nefarious designs, we have put our men and machineries ready on the borders, and our jawans are ready to give them a befitting challenge whatsoever. The shelling continued intermittently for some time which created panic at Chrunda, Batgran, Hathlanga, Mothal, Sahoora, Silikote, Balkote, Nambla, Garkote areas, reports said. However sources said that shelling started today morning, after which panic gripped in the area, there are reports that two girls were injured in cross-border shelling in Uri sector of north Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday. They said that the two girls Shanaza Bano (12) daughter of Bashir Ahmad and Thaira Bano (20) wife of liyaqat Ali suffered injuries at Churanda village, a residential house also got damaged in village Churanda. Meanwhile, sources from Handwara area informed that, on Friday late evening, security forces have launched a massive search operation in Rajwar, Watsar forest area of Handwara town, in Kupwara district. CASO was launched after there were inputs about the movement of militants in the forest area. Security forces cordoned off the whole forest area, due to late hours, and dense forests, the operation is underway to track down militants, said sources.
