Jammu, May 7: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC organizations J&K observed the Buddha Purnima and held a prayer service at the head office, here. Vesak Day marks the birth, enlightenment and death of Gautama Buddha. It was on the Day of Vesak (Buddha Purnima) two and a half millennia ago, in the year 623 B.C that the Buddha was born.
On this day, Buddha attained enlightenment and passed away in his 80th year. A prayer service was organized in which tributes were offered to Lord Buddha and prayers for well-being of all those fighting with COVID-19. R K Kalsotra, State President, Confederation, highlighted the mantra 'Buddham Sharanam Gacchami' which means 'I go to Buddha for refuge'. |
