Lali residents forced to consume contaminated water | | | ASHWANI SHARMA Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, May 7: Thanks to the lackadaisical attitude of Jal Shakti (formerly PHE) Department, the people of Lali Panchayat in Pancheri area are forced to consume contaminated water amidst the risk of dreaded COVID-19 pandemic. The water storage tank of Jal Shakti Department constructed 35 year back to supply water in the Panchayat Lali is in dilapidated condition but the concerned department has failed to repair it. A local Sham Lal informed that roof of the tank is totally damaged and all dust and dirt enters the tank making the water dirty and unfit to consume but let with no other alternate the poor and innocent villagers are forced to consume the same. Sunil Kumar, another local, said that if the repair of the tank is not taken up on priority, then there is fear that the area may experience an outbreak of some water borne disease sooner than later.
