India’s fight against COVID-19 enters into crucial phase | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 13: Experts have predicted that coming week is crucial vis-à-vis outbreak of COVID-19 in the country. “During the past few days there has been sudden increase in the number of positive cases across the country. This fact cannot be ignored,” an analyst told Early Times. Referring to the Prime Minister’s recent statement about lockdown-IV will be different, the analyst said, “Prime Minister’s address to the nation was a clear message that lockdown won’t end so soon as the COVID-19 curve has not flattened yet. There is no doubt about the fact that India’s recovery rate is higher than the other countries. But this week will tell us whether the numbers will stop increasing or not. So far the COVID-19 warriors (medicos) have done a wonderful job they have succeeded in saving many lives. The death rate in India is lower than the other countries.” An observer said, “Many experts had predicted that the COVID-19 will peak in India in mid-May and at present we are in the middle of May month. All of us have kept our fingers crossed and are hoping that things will improve in coming days.” He said, “The recent meeting between Prime Mini ter, Narendra Modi, and Chief Ministers of different States lasted for more than 6-hours. The Chief Ministers suggested that the lockdown should continue in the areas which have been worst hit. But it needs to be eased in the areas where the COVID-19 has not been able to make much impact.” The observer said that the Prime Minister hinted that the economy has to be revived along with the fight against the COVID-19. “Many lockdown guidelines were modified during the lockdown-2 and the ongoing lockdown-3. Another phase could be more lenient which will allow more economic activities,” he added. Another analyst said that the India has set an example before the whole world. “Our country has fought this deadly virus with resilience and courage. The countries which were hit by this deadly virus didn’t take the warnings seriously. The countries like United States, United Kingdom, Italy and other first world countries with best health infrastructure at place were not able to do much for their citizens. The leaders of these countries watched helplessly as their people died. But India has put up a great fight and everyone is determined to defeat this virus,” he added. |
