EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, May 18: The administration of Cluster University of Jammu (CLUJ), reportedly ignoring recruitment rules, has engaged around 14 retired officers/officials of University of Jammu (JU). Sources informed Early Times that different yardsticks were adopted by the administration of CLUJ while making recruitments. “For the appointment of Junior Assistant (JAs) on contract basis the University issued notification and recruitment done through entrance basis for period of 89 days”, sources said, adding that that too for meager monthly salary of Rs 12000, on the other side special privileges were given to retired staff of JU. “For retired JU official for the post of Section Officer (SO) and the Assistant Registrar (AR) the University is paying Rs 25000 and Rs 30000 respectively with an annual contract”, sources said, adding that the nepotism don’t end here, the Varsity has been annually with fresh contract or extension, revising salary of these retired officers/officials. They said that at a time when unemployment has cross all previous graphs and educated youth find it difficult to meet their both end, the University administration is encouraging nepotism. “The incumbent Registrar CLUJ, Dr Jatinder Khajuria, who had also served as incharge Joint Registrar at JU, favouring his former colleagues, at the cost of educated unemployed youths”, they added. Dr Jatinder Khajuria, when contacted said that retired officials of JU recruited with the approval of Government at that time, because there were no sanctioned posts of ARs or SOs. “For retired officers/officials, who have sufficient experience, no test is required. Some people are asking us for contractual engagement but it creates liability for the University, with retired official we are running the campus with a low budget, which is not possible if you go for contractual engagement, because they can claim for regularization in future”, he added. |
