Munish Gupta asks administration to pay heed to people’ grievances

Early Times Report

Jammu, June 9: An open drain in the middle of road, multiple potholes at a few meters stretch of road along with garbage scattered all around narrates the saga of official neglect of B/D Gandhi Nagar at the hands of successive political representatives of the constituency. The residents of B/D Gandhi Nagar say that all roads in the locality are in shambles, while the presence of potholes made driving on the road difficult. “Due to dilapidated condition of roads, the two wheeler riders as well as four wheelers have to drive slowly on the roads. Whenever there are rains, the potholes get full of water”, the residents said, adding that the roads have not been macadamized for the last many months. The residents also complained that on the name of repairs of the roads, the concerned department did some patch-work. “But instead of using the acriflavine (Tarkol), the authorities have used cement in repair work, which creates more problems than repairing the roads”, a local said, adding that once cemented the portion of road seemed swelled and it made ride bumpy. “One drain is passing through the middle of the road and is not constructed for the last many years. The drained water coming from some households get accumulated, making it perfect place for breeding of insects and mosquitoes”, the locals said, adding that the concerned authorities have so far been failed to repair the same for the last many years. The residents further said that some U-shaped bricks, which are used for laying drains, have been placed in the middle of the road for partitioning the road. “Some of the bricks have been broken and uprooted from their place and are lying there but the concerned department remained a mute spectator”, the residents said, adding that it speaks a lot about official neglect they faced at the hands of concerned authorities.
Munish Gupta, Editor-in-Chief Early Times has asked the government to pay heed towards the problems of people living in B/D Gandhi Nagar. He further said that it is the responsibility of the administration and people have every right to get basic amenities as they have been paying for the same.
Munish Gupta who is going to contest the next assembly election from Gandhi Nagar constituency as an independent candidate said that the concerned departments should take notice of the same and take immediate remedy measures without any further delay.
