Social distancing a myth for BJP leaders, violate norms without any remorse | | | HARPREET SINGH SETHI Early Times Report
KATHUA, June 13: A Member of Parliament and a former minister of the BJP were caught flouting COVID-19 norms and guidelines with impunity. The incident took place on Saturday when BJP leaders including sitting Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament Shamsher Singh Manhas was seen receiving the bouquets from former minister Rajiv Jasrotia, District President BJP Kathua Raghunandan Singh Bablu and other office bearers of the district unit. While accepting and handing over the bouquets, the MP and others were clearly visible of not following the social distancing norms while much to the surprise of several people present there the MP was not even wearing the face mask which has been made mandatory to put in use while venturing out. Without obeying the social distancing norms and not wearing the face mask while attending a large gathering at BJP Kathua Headquarters to review the preparations for "Digital Sampark Abhiyan", Virtual Programme of the BJP these leaders of the party seem to suggest that “We don’t practice what we preach” As J&K is witnessing daily spike in Covid-19 positive cases these BJP leaders think that they can do whatever they want to according to their own whims and fancies. Even they have scant regard for the advisories issued by the Centre and Union Territory government for not to assemble at crowded places owing to the COVID-19 spread. And, last but not the least the local BJP leaders are not even ready to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s repeated appeals for maintaining social distancing.
