EarlyTimes Report

JAMMU,June 15: The norm of social distancing seems to have been thrown into bin during the deadly coronavirus pandemic at a branch of J&K Bank at Jagti colony where management has failed to provide any cover to customers who visit the branch in scorching heat of summer.
Scores of people visit the branch everyday for different kinds of works but they are allowed only one by one inside the branch by the bank security while others who were supposed to be in a queue outside at a significant distance were seen very close to each other at the main entrance of the branch just to avoid the direct exposure to sunlight in the scorching heat of summer when day temperature has increased significantly.
When asked a customer for violating norm of social distancing told Early Times that how can we keep distance with one another as the floor of the premises is very hot and direct sunlight on us may cause a stroke to any person here because there was no cover overhead to protect from the heat he added.
It is pertinent to mention here that there has not been made any arrangement for customers who visit the branch which include elderly people and women besides others for their works but also have no facility to wait there at a specific place for their turn as a result of which norms of social distancing were not being maintained by the customers .
Social activist R K Tickoo in an appeal has urged the Relief organization to provide some makeshift arrangement for customers who visit the branch of J&K Bank at Jagti colony as it was very essential to maintain social distancing during the pandemic of COVID- 19 by the people .
