Sukesh bats for nation’s united response to China | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 21: Eminent social activist Sukesh C Khajuria has termed the killing of 20 Indian soldiers including an officer as brutal murder by the Chinese army and called upon the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take multilateral appropriate steps to counter the Chinese threat and hegemony across the globe. Paying homage to the martyred soldiers, Khajuria said that it was unfortunate that the country could not formulate a consistent policy to deal with the Chinese menace, despite the fact that the locals in Ladakh had been constantly crying about their pastures being grabbed slowly and gradually every year by Chinese army. He said that there should be calibrated response to the situation at multi-level and not knee jerk solution as suggested by a Union minister of banning Chinese noodles and food products. He said that India should not be at the receiving end of the Chinese hegemony and the balance of trade which is against India should be done away with. Khajuria said that only essential commodities should be allowed to be imported and balance of trade should not be in favour of China. He further said that it cannot be done merely by words but concrete action over a period of time. “ The statement of Prime Minister to become “Atamnirbhar” should not merely a Jumla but should be acted upon with all sincerity,” he added. The social activist said that the Indian manufacturing units in small and medium sector which had been badly hit firstly by demonetization, then by GST and now by Covid-19 should be economically helped. On the security front, Khajuria said that diplomatic steps should be speeded up to build world pressure against Chinese aggression. Besides, Indian forces should adopt aggressive postures throughout the border with China and even take military action wherever needed to show to the adversary the true intentions and will of the country to defend against any misadventure. He also appealed to all political parties to shun their petty political interest and publically support the Defence Forces and also the Govt of India at this critical times.
